STUDY IN THE USA! MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMS
The U.S. Department of State, through the U.S. Embassy and AMIDEAST, is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for master’s degree studies in the United States under the J. William Fulbright Scholarship Program. Applications are for Fulbright grants beginning August 2012. Fulbright grants provide funding for two years of master’s degree study in the U.S. in all fields except computer science, engineering, dentistry, medicine or medical fields, nursing, and pharmacy.
Qualified applicants must have:
A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (four- or five-year degree) from an accredited institution awarded at least one year prior to application;
Demonstrated ability to undertake advanced studies, with a B.A. or B.S. grade point average equivalent to at least a 3.20 of 4.00 scale;
Strong English language skills; and

Submission of online Fulbright Application Form, available at: https://apply.embark.com/student/fulbright/international/20/ by June 8, 2011, which also includes:
a. Copies of all university transcripts and diplomas. Transcripts in any language other than English or Arabic must be accompanied by official translations.
b. TWO essays typed and prepared in ENGLISH
c. THREE letters of recommendation in ENGLISH from individuals familiar with the applicant’s academic and professional achievements.
d. Curriculum Vitae.
e. Either a valid International TOEFL® or Institutional TOEFL® Program (ITP TOEFL®) score equivalent to at least a 550 (or 80 iBT). Test scores may not be older than two years from date of application.
2. Submission of the application’s signature page and original TOEFL score report to the AMIDEAST offices in Aden or Sanaa by the application deadline below.
NOTE: Applicants who do not have a valid International TOEFL® score should contact AMIDEAST immediately to arrange for the ITP TOEFL® examination. The last ITP examinations before the application deadline will be administered on May 30 in Aden and June 6 in Sanaa.

APPLY NOW FOR THE FULBRIGHT FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING ASSISTANT (FLTA) PROGRAM
The U.S. Embassy in Yemen is pleased to announce the opening of the competition for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program for the academic year 2012-2013.
We encourage all young educators who are fluent in English, looking for a way to improve their teaching skills, enhance their knowledge of the
cultures and customs of the United States, and engage in non-degree studies at an accredited U.S. university to consider applying to become a FLTA!
FLTA participants may assist in or teach up to twenty hours of language classes a week and are required to enroll in at least two courses per semester, one of which must be in U.S. Studies. Along with their studies, FLTAs teach language courses, supervise language labs, and lead language table discussions. FLTAs may serve as an instructor of a foreign language class or be a teaching assistant. FLTAs may also act as resource persons in conversation groups, cultural representatives, coordinators of extra-curricular activities, guest speakers in civilization courses, heads of language clubs, houses, tables and much more.
Applicants must:
1. Be no younger than 21 and no older than 29 at the time of application 2. Reside in Yemen
3. Possess the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor’s degree with a good academic record (Master’s degrees are highly desirable)
4. Be teachers of English or training to become teachers of English; prior teaching experience is preferred
5. Be fluent in English (TOEFL test not required to apply; successful candidates will take the TOEFL at the Embassy’s expense)
6. Clearly demonstrate maturity, dependability, integrity and professionalism
7. Be outgoing and dynamic individuals with a great sense of humor

The Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy is proud to announce the opening of competition for the 2012-2013 Hubert H. Humphrey program. The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is a Fulbright programthat brings accomplished mid-career Yemeni professionals with demonstrated leadership potential seekingadvanced training, study, and networking the opportunity to travel to the U.S. for a year of graduate-level non-degree academic coursework and professional development activities.
The Humphrey fellows are placed in outstanding U.S. universities with other professionals. Each university is chosen based on institutional resources and the level of support and guidance it offers to the participants. Each campus has a designated faculty coordinator for academic and administrative support. In addition, faculty advisors also assist Fellows in pursuing balanced academic and professional. Working alongside professional peers, Humphrey fellows will be able to develop independent projects, take courses, perform internships, network with U.S. and international counterparts, and attend workshops and conferences.
Fellowships are awarded competitively based upon professional qualifications, leadership potential, and commitment to public service.
Specific participant requirements:
- At least five years of work experience in one of the following fields:
o Economic development/finance and banking
o Agricultural and rural development
o Natural resources, environmental policy, and climate change
o Human resource management
o Communications/journalism
o Teaching of English as a foreign language
o Educational administration, planning, and policy
